Eagles Host Duke and UNH for Alumni Weekend and MS Awareness Game
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College (4-8, 0-5 ACC) returns to Newton to begin a four-game homestand to close out the regular season. The Eagles open the stretch on Friday, hosting No.8 Duke (8-4, 3-2 ACC) at 6:30 p.m. on ACC Network, before taking on non-conference foe New Hampshire (6-5) Sunday at noon.
MS AWARENESS
- We are honored to recognize Kathleen Murphy this weekend for our annual MS Awareness game.
- During her time at Boston College, Murphy was an integral member of the women's field hockey team when she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, a disease that attacks the central nervous system. Murphy refused to let MS stop her from living her life, and continued practicing and competing despite the disease. Her strength and determination continue to inspire us all.Â
- Murphy and her teammates began participating in a walk for the MS Society. Today, Murphy continues to spread awareness for MS and raise funds to help find a cure.Â
SHOOTING OUR SHOT
- Melea Weber is leading the team in goal scoring with three goals in her first year in the maroon and gold. Weber also leads the team in points with six total.
- Three new faces have netted their first collegiate goals. Caroline Chisholm, Kate Bock and Alex De Cain each have scored for the Eagles. De Cain and Chisholm each have two goals as well as an assist.
- Martina Giacchino is one of four Eagles to have recorded multiple assists with three on the record; Madeline Leigh, Klara Muffelmann and Eva Kluskens have assisted other Eagles in scoring twice each.
- BC scored three goals in the game against Northeastern, the highest goal count of the season.Â
A LOOK AT DUKE
- This will be the 29th meeting between the Blue Devils and Eagles.
- The Blue Devils are 3-2 in conference play.
- Madison Beach, Alaina McVeigh and Macy Szukics competed as members of the U-21 National Team at the Junior Pan American Games.
- The Blue Devils are coming off a comeback victory over Louisville where freshmen Shae Wonzniak and Sofia Fidalgo Schippa notched collegiate firsts.
- Last season the Eagles lost to the Blue Devils in the regular season only to come back and beat them in a 2-0 shoot out to advance to the ACC Championship.
A LOOK AT UNH
- BC meets the Wildcats for the 36th time in program history this Sunday.
- The Wildcats are members of the American East Conference.
