Kuechly Headed to College Football Hall of Fame in 2023
IRVING, Texas (Jan. 9, 2023) – Former Boston College linebacker Luke Kuechly will be inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame as a member of the Class of 2023 as announced by the National Football Foundation on Monday. Kuechly, who played at BC from 2009-11, is one of 18 First Team All-Americans and four coaches to earn a spot in this year’s Hall of Fame Class.
The NFF and College Hall of Fame announced that the Class of 2023 was selected from a national ballot of 80 players and nine coaches from the Football Subdivision and 96 players and 33 coaches from the divisional ranks. All 22 members will be inducted during the 65th NFF Annual Awards Dinner Presented by Las Vegas on Dec. 5, 2023.
Kuechly gains induction to the Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility and becomes the eighth Eagle player to receive the honor and 11th overall. He is the first BC player to enter the Hall of Fame since Mike Ruth in 2017.
Note: Joe McKenney, a 1928 Boston College graduate, was honored by the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame as an official in 1988.
BOSTON COLLEGE VARSITY CLUB HALL OF FAME

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College Varsity Club President Raymond G. Perrone ’80 has announced the selection of the 2024 Hall of Fame for the fall of 2024. The eight honorees will be inducted at the 54th Varsity Club Hall of Fame banquet on Nov. 8. All new members will be permanently enshrined on the Wall of Fame on the west concourse of Conte Forum.
The eight Eagles inducted are Jo-Lonn Dunbar ’08 (football), Kristin Igoe ’12 (women’s lacrosse), Drew Locke ’05 (baseball), Kristen Madden ’06 (field hockey), Maria Montouri ’87 (women’s soccer), Stu Primus ’85 (men’s basketball), Rob Scuderi ’01 (men’s ice hockey) and Elizabeth Walker ’96 (softball).
The 2024 Varsity Club Hall of Fame ceremony is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 8 ahead of the BC football game against Syracuse on Nov. 9. Complete details and ticket information will be made available at a later date.
Inductee Biographies
Jo-Lonn Dunbar ’08, Football – Dunbar was a two-time captain of the Boston College football team, including his 2007 senior season, which culminated in an ACC Atlantic Division Championship, appearance in the ACC Championship Game and Champs Sports Bowl victory over Michigan State. He earned All-ACC Second Team that season with 90 tackles, a year after leading the Eagles’ with 92 tackles. Dunbar totaled 269 tackles, including 19.5 tackles for loss, in 46 career games. He stepped up to make game-altering plays throughout his career, including a fourth-quarter fumble recovery to set up the game-winning field goal in the 2006 Meineke Car Care Bowl against Navy. In 2007, he dominated Virginia Tech with 12 tackles in a comeback win on the road that propelled the Eagles to the program’s highest ranking in the national polls at No. 2. At the professional level, he went undrafted and played eight seasons in the NFL, starting 64 of 100 games and was a member of the Super Bowl XLIV Champion New Orleans Saints.
