Boston College Shut Down by FSU in Series Rubber-Match

Eagles bested by Seminoles, 8-1, in two-hit performance.
BRIGHTON, Mass. – The Boston College baseball team dropped its series rubber-match against No. 23 Florida State, 8-1, at the Harrington Athletics Village. The Seminoles kept the Eagles off the board until a ninth-inning home run from senior Ramon Jimenez (Chicopee, Mass.).
Lefty Bryce Hubbart (7-1) threw seven-shutout innings of one-run ball to get the win for FSU. He allowed just one hit, a leadoff-double to BC sophomore first baseman Joe Vetrano (Shrub Oak, N.Y.) in the second. Hubbart retired 17 batters in a row to finish his outing having thrown just 80 pitches. He struck out 11 and hit one batter.
The Seminoles (28-17, 13-11 ACC) scored a single run in the first and second innings before chasing freshman righty Sean Hard (Mahwah, N.J.) in a six-run third. Hard (0-5) gave up eight runs, seven earned, on seven hits and two walks with three strikeouts. Fellow freshman RHP Eric Schroeder (Ridgewood, N.J.) followed with 4.2-scoreless innings of relief on just 36 pitches.
