Errors Add Up as Series Even Between BC and FSU

Eagles commit six errors in series-evening, 10-4 contest.
BRIGHTON, Mass. – Errors piled up for the Boston College baseball team as it lost, 10-4, to No. 23 Florida State at the Harrington Athletics Village on Saturday afternoon to even the weekend series. The fifth Eagle error of the day opened the door for a four-run seventh that broke up a 4-4 tie.
An errant throw to second on a potential double-play ball allowed the inning to be extended for the Seminoles (27-17, 12-11 ACC). FSU second baseman Brett Roberts, who hit a solo home run earlier in the game, put the Seminoles back in front with a two-run, two-out single up the middle.
The lead changed hands four times between the second and fifth innings with Boston College (19-29, 5-21) taking its loan lead to 3-2 in the fourth on a two-run, two-out single from freshman shortstop Sam McNulty (Cambridge, Mass.).
Lefty reliever Wyatt Crowell (5-0) entered in a tie game in the sixth and pitched four-shutout innings to earn the win. Just one batter reached against him on a seventh-inning, infield-single. RHP Carson Montgomery went five innings in the start. He gave up four runs, three earned, on six hits and a walk with five strikeouts.
Graduate right-hander Henry Leake (Burbank, Calif.) lasted 5.2 innings in the start. He allowed four runs, three earned, on eight hits and two walks with four strikeouts. Freshman lefty Matthew Nunan (Egg Harbor, N.J.) was the first BC reliever of the day. Nunan (0-1) took the loss in 1.1 innings worked; allowing four unearned runs on two hits and a walk to go with one strikeout.
