Chestnut Hill, Mass. – The Boston College women’s cross country team was named a 2011 United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Team on Monday. This is the second consecutive year the Eagles have received the honor.
To qualify as a USTFCCCA All-Academic Team, the squad must have a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or better and have started at least five runners at their respective NCAA regional championship.
The Eagles took second at the Northeast Regional en route to a 12th place finish at nationals, their best in 10 years.
A total of 205 schools from 30 conferences earned All-Academic stats. BC is 1-of-26 teams that competed at the NCAA Championship and of the 10 from the ACC to do so.
The BIG EAST led all conferences with 14 institutions picking up awards, followed by the PAC-12 with 11 nods.
