BC Runs Well at Big East Championships
Women Place Third, Men Fifth
BRONX, N.Y.--Senior Angie Graham (Pickering, Ontario/Dunbarton) placed fourth in a field of 116 runners at the 1997 BIG EAST Cross Country Championships to lead the 11th-ranked Boston College women to a third-place finish in the 13-team field.
Graham, a five-time All-America selection in track, finished the Van Cortlandt Park (Bronx, NY) course in a time of 17:22.
Senior Ann Baldelli (San Francisco, CA/St. Ignatius) placed 10th in the women's field, while sophomore Shannon Smith (Fairport, NJ/Fairport) finished 11th.
On the men's side, freshman Justin Burdon (Niagara Falls, Ontario) was the Eagles' top finisher. Burdon placed 17th in the 118-runner field to lead BC to a fifth-place team finish. Sophomore Derek Holland (Toronto, Ontario) placed 19th.
