WXC Finishes First; MXC Fourth at Brown University Rothenberg Race

East Greenwich, R.I. - The Boston College women's cross country team finished first overall out of five teams at the Brown University Rothenberg Race on Friday. This marked the third time the Eagles have finished first in an event this season and the second time they have scored five runners in the top eight.
Redshirt junior Elizabeth Hynes won the 5K race with a time of 18:12.5 to pace the Eagles to their second lowest point total of the season (23). Brittany Winslow (3rd, 18:33.9), Danielle Winslow (5th, 18:38.5), Margaret Mullins (6th, 18:39.7), and Alanna Poretta (8th, 18:42.2) rounded out the top five.
James Newhouse lead the men's cross country team with a time of 26:04.9 as the Eagles finished fourth behind Brown, Umass-Amherst, and Dartmouth. The men's top five was rounded out by Joseph McConaughy (26:15.7), David Taranto (26:21.4), Gregory Malloy (26:29.4), and Timothy Ferris (26:46.2). Taranto, Malloy, and Ferris each made their season debuts on Friday.
Both team's will be back in action on October 27 at the ACC Championships in Blacksburg, Va.
