Volleyball Falls to Duke in Four Sets, 3-1

Chestnut Hill, Mass-Outside hitter Katty Workman notched her ninth double-double of the season with a team-high 13 kills to go with 16 digs and middle blocker Melissa McTighe posted 12 kills on .379 hitting in Boston College’s loss to No. 12 Duke on Saturday night in Durham.

The Eagles (8-16, 0-12 ACC) fell in four sets, 3-1 to No. 12 Duke (20-3, 11-1 ACC). The Blue Devils took the first two sets, 25-12 and 25-17, but came back to win the third set, 25-22. Duke answered in the fourth and won the set 25-19, taking the match.

Junior Courtney Castle came through with eight kills and 12 digs for the Eagles while fellow outside hitter Sarah Mendes charted five kills, an ace, and five digs. Setter Kellie Barnum led the team with 34 assists and also contributed a kill and freshman Anna Skold logged five kills for the Eagles.

Libero Franny Hock registered a season-high 19 digs while Lauren Field came through with seven.

Standouts for Duke included Maggie Deichmeister who put up a match-high 42 assists and teammate Jeme Obeime who led all players in kills with 14.

Duke continues to lead the all-time series between the two squads, 1-14.

Boston College returns to Power Gym next weekend as they host Notre Dame on Saturday, Nov. 9 at 5:00 p.m.
