Chestnut Hill, Mass. - The Boston College volleyball team swept Yale in its spring season opener on Saturday. The Eagles topped the Bulldogs in four sets, 25-22, 25-22, 25-23, 25-19, before clinching the sweep with a 27-25 overtime victory in the final set. BC registered a .324 hitting percentage on the day.
Freshman Courtney Castle led all players with a .414 attack, followed by Cassidy Vaughn with a .326. Junior captain Krystle Higgins controlled the middle with 10 blocks and a .280 hitting percentage.
Sophomore Melissa McTighe posted a team-high four blocks in the first two sets, as the Eagles used a .287 attack efficiency to down the Bulldogs.
In the afternoon session, sophomores Alexandra Trobbe and Courtney Seitz each charted two aces. Higgins netted eight blocks and BC went .349 on the attack to close out the day.
Cagla Sen and Kellie Barnum shared time as the setter, while Trobbe and Lauren Fields split action as the libero.
Boston College continues the spring season against Northeastern on Tuesday, April 3 at 6 p.m.
