Volleyball to Host Annual Summer Camps
March 7, 2014
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College volleyball will hold its annual summer camps in July 2014 in Power Gym. Individual skills camps will take place July 6-9 and July 9-12 while team camps will be held July 13-17.
Participants will receive hands-on training from current BC volleyball players as well as head coach Chris Campbell and staff.
The camps offer individual and team development. Campers will be provided with meals and on-campus housing.
The Eagles’ skills camps also have the potential to serve as a recruiting tool. Current freshman libero Madisen Lydon used to attend BC’s summer camp during her high school years, and now she finds herself as a vital component of the Eagles’ roster.
“Coming from a small town in Florida and a small volleyball club program, I instantly had a disadvantage when it came to the recruiting process. I knew that I was going to have to work a little bit harder than everyone in order to get my abilities out there and exposed for coaches to see,” said Lydon. “Going to summer camps became a vital part of my recruiting process because it afforded me just this. By going to BC’s summer camp I was given the opportunity to become familiar with the coaches, school, and volleyball program, which secured my initial interest.”
“My advice for any potential students interested in the camp is to simply go,” said Lydon. “It is a really great opportunity to get to show your skills and get familiar with the program. It allows coaches to get to know you not just as a player, but also as a person, because that is something equally as important within the recruiting process. All the coaches at the camp are very involved and will make sure you have a great time, while also becoming a better volleyball player.”
