Eagles Fall to Auburn
KINGSTON, RI-It took Auburn University just over an hour to keep Boston College women's volleyball team winless. Playing in the University Spirit Rhode Invitational, the Tigers made quick work of the Eagles 15-7, 15-2, 15-13. The loss drops BC to 0-5, while Auburn evens out to 2-2.
Julia El-Hag led the Eagles with 13 kills, as well as chalking up eight digs. Katherine Torterello was her usual busy self, with 22 digs and a team high nine digs. But her -.833 hitting percetage was telltale; BC hit .059 on the day.
Auburn relied on the duo of Jaunelle Hamilton and Emily Suter, who had 17 and 10 kills, respectively. Suter also had nine digs, and setter Piper Craig gave 34 assists. The Tigers hit .243 and committed just 14 errors versus BC's 24.
The Eagles return to action against tournament host Rhode Island at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday in Keany Gymnasium.
