Purdue Volleyball Sweeps Boston College
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Continuing on in the Florida State Invitational, Purdue's women's volleyball team beat Boston College in three straight games. The Boilermakers skunked the Eagles in the first game 15-0, and followed it up with 15-7 and 15-6 wins.
Sarah Emke and Kelly Colangelo both had 13 kills for Purdue, which improves to 2-0.Bev Krupa added eight kills and finished with a .583 hitting percentage. Taryn Catlin helped out her team with 29 assists and four digs, Christy Kelsy led the Boilermakers with 7 digs.
Purdue dominated the match, thanks in large part to the mistakes made by the Eagles (0-2). Four of the Eagles finished the day with a negative hitting percentage, which ultimately led to a .092 team average. Purdue hit .426. The Eagles were unable to block a single ball, while Purdue blocked five. When the dust settled, BC had 29 errors versus just seven for the Boilermakers.
Julia El-Hag led BC with 10 kills and nine digs. Setter Claire Oswalt also had 15 assists to with her nine digs for the Eagles, who play Mississippi State on Saturday. Purdue will try to stay undefeated when they play tournament host FSU on Saturday. Both games will be played at the Gill Gym in Tallahassee.
