Women's Volleyball Falls to Villanova
VILLANOVA, Pa.- Looking to complete a perfect Big East weekend and win
their third consecutivematch, Villanova defeated Boston College 3-0 (15-12, 15-7, 15-10) in their home and regular seasonfinale on Sunday, Nov. 16, at Jake Nevin Field House on the campus ofVillanova University. With the victory, the Wildcats improved their record to 19-7 overall and 9-2 in the Big East Conference.
With Villanova down 5-4 in the first game, senior middle blocker
Stacy Evans (Los Altos, CA./ St. Francis H.S.) tied up the score with her fourth kill of the game. With that kill, Evans broke the all-time Villanova kill record of 1,668 held by 1993 graduate Becky
Kulbago.
After taking the first game 15-12, Villanova never looked back,
defeating the Eagles 15-7 and 15-10 in the last two games, to win the match 3-0. Leading the Wildcats to victory on her milestone day was Evans, who finished the match with a game-high 20 kills, to go along with six digs and three blocks. Outstanding performaces were also had by senior Marisa Davidson
(Mt. Airy, MD./ Glenelg) who recorded 12 kills, 11 digs and a .478 hitting percentage, and freshman Breen Eddinger (Tacoma, WA./ Bellarmine Prep) who notched nine kills and a .438 hitting percentage.
Senior Kris Tomasovic (Tigard, OR./ St. Mary's Acad.), who along with
Evans and Davidson played in her last home game for the Wildcats, contributed six digs on the afternoon.
For Boston College, who dropped to 7-23 overall and 1-9 in the Big
East with the loss, Julia El-Hag had a team-high 13 kills, while Amy Sprinkel tallied 10 kills and nine digs.
Villanova travels to Seton Hall next weekend, for the Big East
Tournament, to be held on Nov. 22-23.
