Volleyball Drops to Pitt in Five, 3-2

Chestnut Hill, Mass.- Sophomore Katty Workman recorded her 11th double-double of the season, leading all players with 16 kills to go with 15 digs in the Eagles loss to Pittsburgh on Sunday afternoon in Chestnut Hill, Mass.
The Eagles (9-19, 1-15 ACC) took the first two sets, 25-22 and 25-14, but fell short to Pittsburgh (15-14, 7-9 ACC) in the last three, 25-22, 25-17, and 15-12.
Junior Courtney Castle also posted a double-double with 12 kills and 10 digs, marking her sixth of the season. Castle is now ranked third in the record books with 26 career double-doubles. Junior Kellie Barnum led all players with 37 assists to go with nine kills on .750 hitting along with 11 digs.
Senior Melissa McTighe notched eight kills and led all players with 13 total blocks in the match. Senior Amanda Yerke came through with seven kills and 12 digs while freshman Anna Skold logged five kills for the Eagles. Freshman Madisen Lydon contributed with 10 digs while senior Alex Trobbe and sophomore Franny Hock each added two digs individually.
The meeting served as the Eagles last home match of the season as well as senior day. Seniors Melissa McTighe, Cagla Sen, Alex Trobbe, and Amanda Yerke were recognized for their achievements as BC student-athletes.
Boston College volleyball and head coach Chris Campbell are back in action next weekend on the road as they take on Georgia Tech on Friday, Nov. 22 at 7 p.m. and Clemson on Saturday, Nov. 23 at 6 p.m.
