Volleyball Loses to Notre Dame in Five Sets, 3-2

Sophomore Katty Workman recorded her 10th double-double of the season with 13 kills and 13 digs while junior Courtney Castle posted her third double-double of the season with 14 kills and a match-high 21 digs in the Eagles loss to Notre Dame on Friday night in Power Gym.

The Eagles (8-17, 0-13 ACC) took the first two sets, 25-18 and 25-17 but Notre Dame (11-15, 5-9 ACC) bounced back to clinch the next three sets, 25-18, 25-23 and 17-15.

Grad student Amanda Yerke logged 14 kills to go with five digs and six blocks while captain Kellie Barnum led all players with 52 assists along with five kills. Freshman Anna Skold recorded eight kills while senior Melissa McTighe contributed with nine.

On the defensive end, freshman Madisen Lydon led the squad with 19 digs.

The Eagles are back in action tomorrow at 4 p.m. as they host Syracuse in Power Gym.
