Volleyball Falls in Straight Sets to North Carolina

Oct. 28, 2011

Chapel Hill, N.C. - The Boston College volleyball team was defeated by North Carolina, 25-16, 25-16, 25-11, on Friday night in Carmichael Arena. Junior Mollie Kolosky led the Eagles (7-16, 3-9 ACC) with seven kills against the Tar Heels (19-5, 11-2 ACC).

Senior Brennan Clark led the Eagles with 13 digs and freshman Kellie Barnum dished out a team-best 22 assists.

Junior Krystle Higgins led all players with five blocks, adding four kills and an ace.

Boston College relied on Higgins and Kolosky to take small lead out of the gates, but the Tar Heels gathered themselves and put together a .324 attack percentage to earn a win in the first set.

Offense from Kolosky, sophomore Melissa McTighe and freshman Courtney Castle pushed BC to trade points with UNC to 13 all, but the Heels strung together a 12-3 run to win in the second.

UNC closed the door with a .400 hitting percentage in the third set.

The Eagles take on NC State tomorrow at 7 p.m.
