CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - For the third time this season, the Boston College volleyball team trailed 2-0 in a match, and rallied to win three straight games, this time against the Wake Forest Demon Deacons, 3-2, Sunday afternoon at Power Gymnasium.
The Eagles, which improved to 5-9 in the ACC, 11-13 overall, dropped the first two games to Wake Forest, 30-24 and 30-28. BC registered hitting percentages of .277 and .340 to win games three and four, 30-23 and 30-22 to force a gave-five. In the fifth game the Eagles received a kill from Audrey Eichler to give BC a one-point advantage, 14-13. The kill was followed by an attacking error from the Demon Deacons to give BC the game and the match, 3-2.
Setter Dani Moskitis recorded a career-high in assists, dishing out 70 in the win. The freshman also chipped in 15 digs, which marked her fourth double-double of the season.
Kelsey Johnson and Tori Thompson also recorded double-doubles versus Wake Forest. Johnson totaled a match-high 29 kills along with 17 digs, while Thompson registered season highs in both digs (14) and kills (11).
Audrey Eichler and Abigail Hasebroock each recorded double-digit kill performances in the win. Eichler connected on 24 of 38 total attacks, only committing four errors, for an attacking percentage of .526. Hasebroock totaled 10 kills for a .364 percentage, and added eight digs and four blocks.
Cathy Quilico contributed a match-high 18 digs, to improve the Eagles record at Power Gymnasium to 9-2 on the season.
The loss drops Wake Forest to 4-10 in the ACC, 7-16 overall.
The next game for BC is on Nov. 2 at North Carolina. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
