Volleyball Falls in Straight Sets, 3-0 to No. 11 North Carolina

Boston College volleyball dropped a 3-0 decision to No. 11 North Carolina on Sunday afternoon in Power Gym.
The Eagles (8-8, 0-4 ACC) fell in straight sets to the Tar Heels (15-0, 4-0 ACC) 25-17, 27-25, and 25-21.
Senior Amanda Yerke led the Eagles with nine kills on .304 hitting in addition to three digs and three blocks. Melissa McTighe and Katty Workman both contributed eight kills each while freshman Barbara Gonzalez posted seven kills and three blocks in the match. Outside hitter Courtney Castle also contributed with four kills and eight digs for BC.
UNC improved to 15-0 led by the efforts of outside hitter and ACC Player of the Week Jovana Bjelica who registered nine kills along with a service ace, three digs and three blocks for the Tar Heels. Other standouts for North Carolina included sophomore Victoria McPherson who charted eight kills and outside hitter Leigh Andrew who recorded seven kills and nine digs in the match. Sophomore Jordyn Schnabl led the Heels in assists with 21.
Boston College is on the road next weekend with ACC matchups against Virginia Tech (Oct. 11, 7:00 p.m.) and Virginia (Oct. 12, 7:00 p.m.) in Blacksburg and Charlottesville, Va.
