Volleyball Goes Undefeated in Columbia Tournament

Boston College (8-2) volleyball goes undefeated in the Columbia Tournament this weekend.
The Eagles defeated Binghamton (0-8) in their last match of the tournament in straight sets, 3-0, winning 25-15, 25-23, and 25-18.
Senior Melissa McTighe led the Eagles with eight kills on .318 hitting along with a dig, a block solo, and four block assists. McTighe only had one error on 22 swings. Outside hitter Katty Workman recorded six kills, 10 digs, and 2 block solos while sophomore Sarah Mendes posted nine kills, a service ace, and 11 digs.
Junior Kellie Barnum notched a match-high of 26 assists while also contributing two kills, four service aces, and four digs. Newcomers Anna Skold and Barbara Gonzalez each registered seven kills individually while Madisen Lydon chipped in two assists, two service aces, and 12 digs.
Standouts for the Bearcats included senior Grace Vickers who recorded nine kills and four block assists along with teammate Allison Hovie who posted four kills, an assist, two service aces, and seven digs. Libero Xiomara Ortiz also contributed with a match-high of 14 digs.
The Eagles took two victories on the first day of the tournament against Fordham, 3-0, and Columbia, 3-2. This marks the second tournament of the season that the Eagles have gone undefeated.
Boston College is back in action in the New England Challenge next weekend as they head to Northeastern Sept. 20 at 7 p.m., and return home to the Power Gym to match-up against Harvard on Sept. 22 at 2 p.m.
