CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Boston College volleyball team suffered a 3-0 sweep to the Michigan State Spartans in their first match of the Harvard Invitational. The Eagles bounced back and swept Wofford College, 3-0, to earn a split on the afternoon.

Against the Spartans, the Eagles lost 31-29, 30-18 and 30-25 in their first match of the day. BC struggled on the offensive side in the second game of the match. The Eagles managed only six kills out of 32 attempts, while Michigan State connected on 17 of 38 tries.

The win for Michigan State improves their overall record to 5-3 on the season.

The Eagles were able to regroup versus Wofford College and sweep the Terriers (30-24, 30-19 and 30-24) in their second match of the Harvard Invitational.

Seniors Kelsey Johnson and Abigail Hasebroock were a dynamic dual offensively for the Eagles. Johnson collected a match-high 15 kills while Hasebroock added 10 kills of her own.

Senior Kristin Whalley also made a strong contribution for BC, adding a match-high four service aces and team-high seven digs.

With the split on the afternoon, the Eagles now own a record of 5-4 on the season.

BC continues play in the Harvard Invitational tomorrow, Saturday, Sept. 8, against the Delaware State Hornets. Game time is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. in Cambridge, Mass.
