Kristen Shockley enters her third year as an assistant coach for the Boston College Eagles volleyball team. Last season, Shockley helped guide the Eagles to a 14-18 overall record and 8-14 ACC finish.

Shockley was hired in February 2006 after returning from coaching a team of top American players on an exposure tour in Europe. The team competed against International competition in four countries, which included: the Czech Republic, Austria, Slovenia, and Germany.

In May of 2006, shortly after the completion of BC's spring season, Shockley headed overseas again, this time to coach in Africa. She was one of six American coaches to take part in the Nigerian Volleyball Project in Abuja, Nigeria. Prior to BC, Shockley coached at Dartmouth College. She was the Associate Head Coach for the Big Green in 2005 and worked as an assistant before that with the team from 2002-2005.

From 2000 to 2002 she was an assistant at DePauw University for both volleyball and basketball. Ranked consistently in the top-20, the DePauw volleyball team recorded a 59-12 record during her tenure, advanced to the NCAA tournament, and produced an All-American outside attacker, Janie Hodgkinson.

The DePauw basketball team, ranked in the top 10 during Shockley's tenure, recorded a 45-10 record, and made the Final Four in the 2002 NCAA tournament under the guidance of that year's NCAA DIII National Coach of the Year, Kris Huffman. Leading that team was All-American Lindsey Rush. Shockley also earned her Masters Degree in Sports Management from Indiana State University while coaching at DePauw.

Shockley also enjoyed a successful collegiate career at Ohio Wesleyan University as a two-sport athlete. In volleyball, she was a three-time captain and received NCAC All-Conference honors from 1996-1999. She is the school's all-time leader in career kills and digs and holds the NCAC record for career digs.

She was part of the NCAC volleyball championship in 1996. In basketball, Shockley's team won the NCAC championship in 1998-99, and was ranked consistently in the top 10 during the 2000 season. That team was coached by the 2001 NCAA DIII National Coach of the Year, Nan Carney-DeBord.

She was a Dean's List scholar and also a member of three different Honor Societies during her collegiate career.

Shockley has worked a number of summer camps, including the Nike Camp at Dartmouth and volleyball camps at Bentley College, Boston College and the University of New Hampshire.

She currently resides in Boston.
