May 22, 2014
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Junior Madeleine Davidson and sophomore Danielle Winslow will compete in the 2014 NCAA Division I Women's Outdoor Track and Field Preliminary Championships beginning on May 29 at the University of North Florida.
Davidson qualified for the 5000m while Winslow will run in the 3000m steeplechase.
Davidson had a strong cross country campaign in the fall when she served as a team captain. She was among the top five runners for Boston College in every meet. The Toronto, Ontario, product was successful in the indoor season as well, capped by finishing eighth in the 3000m (9:33.51) at the ACC Championships and helping the distance medley relay team to a sixth-place finish (11:26.74).
Davidson qualified for the 5000m event by clocking a personal best 16:21.40 at the Penn Relays which earned her fifth place. That time is five seconds better than the one she ran last year at the ECAC Championships. Davidson ran a 16:23.17 this year at the ECACs which was good enough for third.
Winslow has been consistently successful in the steeplechase all season, earning four top five finishes in all four of her races. She earned second place finishes at the UMass Invitational (10:47.33), the New England Championships (10:28.10) and the ECAC Championships (10:18.51). Winslow also took fourth in the event at the ACC Championships (10:25.93).
The Queensbury, N.Y., product has improved her time by nearly 30 seconds since the beginning of the outdoor season. Winslow's top time last year in the 3000m steeplechase was 10:56.40.
The qualifiers out of the regional championships will compete in the NCAA Division I Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships held June 11-14 in Eugene, Oregon.
