Chestnut Hill, Mass. - Five members of the Boston College women's track and field team were named to the 2012 All-ACC Academic Indoor Track & Field Team in an announcement by Commissioner John Swofford.
Caroline King, Jillian King, Hope Krause, Erin McKenna and Kathy O'Keefe were each recognized for their outstanding achievement in the classroom and around the track.
The Kings both won silver medals at the 2012 ACC Indoor Championship held at the Reggie Lewis Center this past February. Caroline was the runner-up in the 800-meter dash. Jillian took second in the 3,000-meter run, after teaming with O'Keefe and McKenna in the distance medley relay that earned bronze the night before. Krause took sixth in the 5,000-meter run.
C. King is joined by North Carolina's Ashley Verplank, and Virginia Tech's Ogechi Nwaneri join Jenije as three-time members of the team. Miami's Miranda Wilson, a graduate student studying mental health counseling, earns her fourth-career All-ACC Academic honor.
To be eligible for All-ACC Academic Team consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during her academic career.
