Providence, R.I. -Senior Kelsey Huckins furthered her own Boston College women's track and field discus record at the Brown Springtime Invitational on Sunday afternoon. The Eagle bested the field of 19 with a distance of 49.29 meters (161-8.0 ft.).
Huckins's mark currently ranks as No. 27 in the East Region, which presently qualifies her for the NCAA East Regional taking place in Jacksonville, Fla. from May 24-26. The Westmooreland, N.H. native set her previous record distance of 49.21 meters at the ACC Championship in 2010. The throw earned her the silver medal.
Men's freshman Shane Cranmore wielded a javelin mark of 49.35 meters to take 14th in the field of 25.
Around the track, Kathy O'Keefe took ninth in the half mile. The freshman ran a 2:15.70, taking sixth in heat one.
Classmate Anthony Tripodi was the only freshman in the finals of the 400-meter hurdles. Tripodi took fourth in 59.05.
