New Haven, Conn. - The Boston College women's track team registered 19 top-five individual performances, placing second overall out of 10 teams at Southern Connecticut State's Owl Invitational on Saturday.

Senior Alison Fogarty, sophomores Meaghan Callahan, Teyhanie Boone and Melissa Hadfield and freshman Katherine Watson led the BC squad with two top-five performances each. Fogarty won the 400 meter dash in 58.02 and placed fourth in the 200 meter dash, clocking a 26.35 Callahan placed third in both the 100 meter dash (12.67) and the 400 meter dash (59.32). Boone took fourth in the 100 (12.79) and third in the 200 (26.00). Hadfield placed fifth the 100 (13.14) and third in the long jump (5.13m). Watson placed fifth in the 100 meter hurdles (16.46) and fourth in the long jump (5.03m).

Other top-five finishes included freshman Siobhan Breagy in the 800 (second, 2:20.00) sophomore Christine Sullivan (third, 4:50.73) and freshman Monica Chase (fifth, 4:55.13) in the 1500. Three BC women placed in the top five of the 5000. They were sophomores Lauren Johnston (first, 17:41.89), Kelly Gross (fourth, 18:16.44) and freshman Amanda Leahy (fifth, 18:43.36). Junior Kara Musso took fourth in the 400 meter hurdles (1:09.98). Wrapping up the Eagles' top performances were freshman Danielle DePalo (second, 3.05m) and senior Carly Rayburn (third, 2.90m) in the pole vault.

 

 

BC will split its squads this upcoming weekend, with some athletes traveling to the Stanford Invitational in Palo Alto, Calif., and others competing in the Stonehill Invitational in Easton, Mass. The Stanford Invitational will be held April 4 and 5 and the Stonehill Invitational will take place April 5.
