CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Senior Jillian King has been selected as one of 16 participants set to compete in the mile run at the NCAA Indoor Championships this weekend.
The championships will be held Friday-Saturday, March 8-9, at the Randal Tyson Track in Fayetteville, Ark.
King's school record 4:34.19 mark in the mile at Boston University's Make Up Meet on Feb. 14 was the seventh best time recorded in the nation this season. Jillian broke her sister Caroline's previous record of 4:36.00 set at the 2011 NCAA Championships - the last Eagle to make an appearance in the event.
The women's mile semifinal will be contested at 6:30 p.m. on Friday with final taking place on Saturday at 7:00 p.m.
The Eagles look to take home their second national championship in women's track with the first coming from Shannon Smith's brilliant performance in the 3,000m (9:11.25) at the 2001 NCAA Indoor Championships.
