PRINCETON, N.J. – Senior Kelsey Huckins and sophomore Morgan Mueller stood on the podium at the 2012 Outdoor Track & Field ECAC Championship at Weaver Stadium. Junior Moira Kenny also scored to put the Eagles in fourth place with 14 points through the second day of competition.
Huckins claimed silver in the discus with a 48.51-meter (159-02 ft.) toss. Mueller delivered a personal best time of 10:33.19 – fifth fastest in BC history – to earn bronze in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.
Kenny added the final point for the Eagles on Friday in the 10K. The junior lowered her personal record to 36:08.90 to take eighth place. Classmate Elizabeth O’Brien ran 37:02.45.
Graduate Hope Krause turned in a top 10 finish with a 16:46.32 in the 5,000-meter run.
Boston College advanced three competitors after Saturday’s preliminary action.
Jillian King registered the fastest 1,500-meter qualifier (4:26.23) for Sunday’s final. Liv Westphal also advanced to the final after running 4:29.57. Kathy O’Keefe (4:32.53), Bridget Dahlberg (4:33.72) and Madeline Wallace (4:37.12) also contested the metric mile.
The top three half mile qualifiers were separated by eight-hundredths of a second. Caroline King won section two, running the third best time (2:06.13) to move on. Junior Erin McKenna ran a 2:14.42 in heat five, but did not advance.
The final day of the meet will also showcase Heather Garcia
and Allison Stasiuk
in the 3,000-meter run.
