Dahlberg and Mueller Highlight ACC Championships

RALEIGH, N.C. – The Boston College women’s track team finished 12th (25 points) at the 2013 ACC Championships hosted by NC State this weekend.
Bridget Dahlberg (10:11.57) and Morgan Mueller (10:19.14) highlighted the event for BC, taking home awards in the 3000m steeplechase with second and third place finishes respectively. Both women set personal records and ECAC qualifying marks with their times in the steeplechase this weekend – Dahlberg’s time was good for seventh while Mueller’s was good for 12th on the NCAA East Regional qualifying list.
Sophomore Liv Westphal tallied an ECAC qualifying mark in the 1500m with a personal best time of 4:25.65 while Madeleine Davidson qualified for her first ECACs in the 5000m with a time of 16:57.72 – a collegiate best.
In the 5000m, Dahlberg once again shined with a fifth place finish out of 35 participants. Her time of 16:07.40 was the second best mark of her career in the event.
The heptathlon saw both Kristen and Kim McDonagh finish with career best scores of 4,290 and 4,286 respectively – both good for ECAC qualifiers. Kristen also set a personal record in the high jump (1.70m) which was good for 11th overall in the event.
After excelling in the discus over the past few meets, senior Kelsey Huckins finished fifth overall in the event with a mark of 49.67m. Huckins scored victories in the discus at the UMass and UConn Invitationals in April with a school record toss of 50.13m at UMass on April 13.
The Eagles will return to action on Thursday in Philadelphia for the Penn Relays.
