Huckins Sets School Record at UMass Invitational

AMHERST, Mass. - Senior Kelsey Huckins highlighted the BC women's track team's day at the UMass Invitational on Saturday in Amherst. Huckins entered the day as the BC record holder in the discus (49.29m) but she shattered that mark with a toss of 50.13m - a meet and facility record at UMass in the event. Her throw now sits as the 18th best mark on the NCAA East Regional qualifying list.
The Eagles as a team finished second overall out of 19 schools with 106 points.
Jillian King (2:09.41) finished first and set an ECAC qualifying mark in the 800m while Katherine O'Keefe finished second behind King - tallying a time of 2:21.62.
Bridget Dahlberg provided the Eagles with a strong performance in the 3000m steeplechase as she currently is placed ninth on the NCAA East Regional qualifying list with a time of 10:18.48. Danielle Winslow placed third in the event with a personal best time of 11:00.44.
Sophomore Liv Westphal scored a win in the 1500m with an ECAC qualifying time of 4:31.27 while Madeleine Davidson (17:09.77) and Alanna Poretta (17:15.97) tallying ECAC qualifying marks in the 5000m - both personal bests.
The strong performances at UMass aim to give the Eagles momentum entering the ACC Outdoor Championships beginning on Thursday in Raleigh, N.C.
