W. Track and Field Competes at Armory and BU

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Boston College women's track and field team competed at both the 2014 BU David Hemery Valentine Invitational and the 2014 Armory Collegiate Invitational over the weekend.The Eagles had four runners at Boston University, while the majority of the team raced in New York at the Armory.
BC put up a great showing at BU starting with the 3000m. Liv Westphal (9:16.72) took seventh overall, Laura Hottenrott (9:26.07) finished 12th, and Madeleine Davidson took 14th with her personal best time of 9:28.59.
Alanna Poretta, the final BC competitor at BU, met the ECAC qualifying standard in the 5000m with her time of 17:26.
The Eagles continued their success at the Armory, as three individuals and two relay teams met the ECAC standard at the invitational.
Katherine O'Keefe and Claudia DiSomma both met the qualifying mark in the 1000m. O'Keefe took 11th overall with a time of 2:52.43 and DiSomma finished in 2:53.54, good for 18th.
The 4x400m team and the 4x800 team followed suit, both meeting the ECAC mark. The 4x4 team took 14th with a time of 3:51.55 and was powered by Molly O'Dea, Carly Daniel, Christina Zelenoy and Robin Gross. The 4x8 team took 4th overall (9:03.73) and was comprised of DiSomma, Kristin Jordan, Emma Sullivan and O'Keefe.
Co-captain Molly O'Dea also ran an indoor lifetime best of 25.16 in the 200m.
Freshman Emma Sullivan set her personal record in the 500m with a time of 1:18.49.
Boston College will be back in action this weekend, with four runners competing at Iowa State on Friday, Feb. 14 and the rest of the team competing at Brown on Saturday, Feb. 15.
