Jan. 26, 2013
BOSTON – Jillian King scored a win at the Terrier Invitational while Bridget Dahlberg won at the Joe Donahue Games at Northeastern on Friday. The Eagles also tied for first in team scoring at the Joe Donahue Games with 85.5 points.
Sophomore Katherine O’Keefe took home a win in the 1000-meter run with a mark of 2:57.90.
King’s mark of 4:37.60 in the mile was the second best time recorded in the nation this season for that event. King is coming off ACC Performer of the Week honors and USTFCCCA Athlete of the Week honorable mention for her performance in the 800-meter last week. The mark of 2:06.55 in the 800-meter still holds as the best time recorded in the nation this season.
Dahlberg took home the win in the 3000-meter run with a career-best time of 9:30.28, the 19th fastest mark in the nation this season.
"Freshman Carly Daniel ran a bit out of her range (500m) but clearly showed that she is ready to be competitive at the ACC meet. Coach Heyde is doing an excellent job working with the sprinters, hurlers and jumpers. All are improving on a weekly basis. Our upperclass leaders, especially Kelsey Huckins, Taylor Aizenstadt, Jillian and Allie Stasiuk are excellent leaders and role models. All is well with our program," said head coach Randy Thomas.
The Eagles will be back in action on February 1 for the New Balance Collegiate Games in New York City.
