Women's T&F Opens 2014 at Yale Invitational

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Boston College women’s track and field team opened up 2014 with the 32nd annual Yale Collegiate Invitational at Coxe Cage on Saturday.

The Eagles took first and sixth in the DMR. The top team of Kathy O’Keefe, Christina Kyritsis, Claudia DiSomma and Madeleine Davidson crossed the line in 11:57.18 and met the IC4A/ECAC standard. The second team of Alanna Poretta, Emma Sullivan, Christina Zelenoy and Morgan Mueller finished in 12:23.52.

In the mile BC had four runners in the top 15: Amanda Rickert (ninth, 5:10.40), Margaret Mullins (10th, 5:12.83), Elizabeth Predmore (11th, 5:15.07) and Megan Ritchie (14th, 5:19.58).

Racquel MacDonald met the New England standard with her time of 9.44 in the 60m hurdles and set her collegiate personal record by four seconds.

In the 400m Daniel took 13th (59.82), Claudia DiSomma finished 15th (1:00.01), O’Dea finished 17th (1:00.11), and Jacqueline Hannon took 25th (1:01.95).

Molly O’Dea took 8th in the 60m finals (8.05) while Carly Daniel took 17th in the prelims (8.04), Gabriella Candelieri took 38th (8.41) and Jacqueline Hannon finished 40th (8.50) out of 59.

In the 800m Kristin Jordan took 9th (2:22.47), Jacqueline Pollack finished 11th (2:23.99), Elissa Knight took 20th (2:28.62) and Kim Mconaugh took 25th (2:33.31).

Boston College will compete next on Thursday, Jan. 16 at the Boston University Multi-Team Meet.
