Boston College Women's Tennis announces the signing of Jessica Wacnik to a National Letter of Intent. The native of Oakland, Ill. is rated a Five-star recruit by the Tennis Recruiting Network and has been ranked nationally as high as No. 31 in 2010 and No. 29 in 2009.
Wacnik will join the Eagles in the fall of 2011 and bring with her a wealth of national and international experience. Her resume includes such highlights as capturing the doubles title at the Vancouver ITF Championships in 2009 and being a singles finalist at the ITF championships in Montreal that same season.
"We are thrilled that Jessica Wacnik will be joining our program and playing at Boston College next fall," Head Coach Nigel Bentley commented. "Jessica will be an impact player for us. Her intensity, focus and commitment to improve are characteristics that fit in perfectly with our team goals. Jessica works very hard on the tennis court and in the class room, she is a team player, and she has fun in the process. She has worked extremely hard her whole junior career to be one of the top players in the country and we are very excited that she will be bringing these talents to BC."
As a member of the Confederation of South American Tennis (COSAT) tour, she has competed against other elite youth players around the world. While on tour, she reached the Round of 16 in Columbia as a singles player.
Wacnik followed her time with COSAT, with an appearnace in the Quarterfinal of the prestigious USTA Orange Bowl International Tennis Championship.
She is currently in the process of achieving a professional ranking by playing at various levels of pro tournaments.
