Women's Tennis Signs Top Recruit

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Asiya Dair from Almaty, Kazakhstan, has signed a National Letter of Intent to play tennis at Boston College in 2014, according to an announcement made by head coach Nigel Bentley on Monday.
Dair has been spending the last year competing on the WTA international tennis tour. Additionally, Dair has participated in other prestigious tournaments such as the US Open, Wimbledon and Roland Garros. She was ranked No. 1 in the under 12, 14, 16, and 18 age groups in Kazakhstan.
Dair was also the singles runner up at the Close Asian under 18 Championships and won a bronze medal at the Asian Youth Games.
When she is not playing tennis, Dair enjoys playing the piano, reading books, learning languages and cooking.
"We are absolutely thrilled to be adding Asiya Dair to our team in the fall,” said head coach Nigel Bentley. “She has extensive international experience and will be an impact player for us. Asiya is extremely motivated, a very hard worker and a charming and delightful person. Her goals are very consistent with our team and she is a perfect fit for us."
