Kelleher Earns Spot on 2013 All-ACC Women's Tennis Team

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Senior Alex Kelleher has earned a spot on the 2013 All-ACC Women's Tennis Team, the conference office announced on Wednesday.
This spring in dual match play the Worcester, Mass., native has gone 9-7 in singles competition playing primarily in the No. 2 slot. Earlier this season, she defeated the ITA's 31st-ranked singles player, Daneika Borthwick, of then-No. 20 Florida State, 6-1, 3-6, 6-2, at the No. 1 spot on April 5. She also beat No. 82 Kathryn Talbert of Wake Forest, 6-3, 7-5, at the No. 1 position on April 14.
In doubles this spring, she has teamed exclusively with sophomore Jessica Wacnik to form the ITA's No. 79 doubles pair. The duo has gone 12-5 overall in dual matches in 2013 including a 5-4 mark in ACC play. They defeated then-No. 71 Stephanie Nauta and Erin Vierra of then-No. 32 Virginia and then-No. 31 Lina Lilekite and Stephanie Wagner of then-No. 10 Miami this spring.
The Worcester Academy product helped the Eagles open the season 6-0 and reach a ranking as high as No. 45.
Kelleher's selection marks the second season in a row that BC has landed a player on the All-ACC team. Last season, Erina Kikuchi garnered the recognition.
Ninth-seeded Boston College plays eighth-seeded NC State on Thursday at 9 a.m. in the first round of the ACC Championship from Cary Tennis Park in Cary, N.C.
