Chestnut Hill, Mass. - Boston College senior Erina Kikuchi was named Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday afternoon. The singles and doubles player is the first BC Eagle to earn the accolade.
The New York City native went undefeated on the weekend as BC (9-10, 3-6 ACC) defeated NC State and Wake Forest at home. She won the No. 1 singles match over the nation's 37th-ranked player, Joelle Kissell of NC State, for her first victory over a ranked opponent. The win clinched the match for the Eagles' victory, marking the first time in BC history the program beat the Wolfpack.
Kikuchi and doubles partner freshman Jessica Wacnik tallied two victories in the No. 1 position, defeating Ashley Miller and Kissell, 8-4, of NC State and Ryann Cutillo and Kayla Duncan, 8-3, of Wake Forest.
