Boston College Women's Tennis defeats Princeton, 5-4
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -The Boston College women's tennis team, under the direction of head coach Mark Burns (12th season), finished up its fall dual-meet season with a 5-4 victory over Princeton at the Flynn Recreation Complex Courts. Boston College finished the fall season with a 3-1 dual-match record.
The Eagles' top four singles players all won their matches. Sophomores Barbara Privrel (Zurich, Switzerland) and Mercedes del Valle (Mexico City, Mexico) led the way, each winning in straight sets.
Privrel, playing in the number-one position, defeated Blair Farr 7-5, 6-3 and del Valle, in the number-three slot, swept Amanda Hastings-Phillips, 6-0, 6-4.
In doubles play, Boston College took two of three matches to record the match clinching point.
The freshman duo of Cynthia Tow (Chestnut Hill, Mass.) and Kiren Fernando (Lake Oswego, Ore.) defeated the Tiger team of Farr/Hastings-Phillips 9-8 (7-3). del Valle and senior co-captain Christina Malone (St. Petersburg, Fla.) defeated Lili Holodnak/Stephanie Alpert, 8-3.
