Women's Tennis Falls to No. 5 North Carolina

Chapel Hill, N.C. - The No. 68 Boston College women's tennis team lost to fifth-ranked North Carolina, 4-0, on Sunday afternoon at Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center. The Tarheels (20-5, 10-1 ACC) swept the Eagles (10-12, 3-8 ACC) in match play.
Freshman Sarah Dalton and junior Ina Kauppila lost to Zoe De Bruycker and Jennifer Stone, 8-3, on the third court and the 47th-nationally-ranked pair, Haley Hemm and Tessa Lyons defeated senior Katarina Gajic and junior Olga Khmylev on court two, 8-4, to seal the doubles point.
Hemm defeated Kauppila, 6-1, 6-1, on court six for the first singles point. Shinann Featherston, ranked 89th in the nation, defeated freshman Jessica Wacnik, 6-1, 6-1 on the second court. Lyons beat junior Kelly Barry, 6-0, 6-3, in the No. 5 position to seal the victory for the Heels. The rest of the matches were not finished as UNC clinched the match.
The Eagles are the eighth seed in the ACC Tournament in Cary, N.C., and will face the ninth-seed NC State (7-15, 3-8 ACC). BC defeated the Wolfpack earlier this season, 5-2.
