No. 61 Women's Tennis Falls to No. 44 NC State

Freshmen Katya Vasilyev and Wan-Yi Sweeting each won in singles and doubles, but No. 61 Boston College fell to No. 44 NC State, 5-2, at Dail Outdoor Tennis Stadium in Raleigh, N.C., on Saturday afternoon.

The Eagles (8-7, 2-6 ACC) dropped two of three doubles matches to the Wolfpack (12-6, 3-5 ACC) and lost four of the six singles matches.

Vasilyev and Sweeting partnered to down Sophie Nelson and Chloe Smith, 8-3, on court No. 3, picking up BC's lone doubles win. Vasilyev went onto win 6-2, 7-5 over Nicole Martinez on singles court No. 5, and Sweeting picked up a 6-4, 6-4 victory at No. 6 over Elisha Hande.

Senior Alex Kelleher and freshman Heini Salonen each fell in three sets on singles court Nos. 1 and 4 respectively.

Next, Boston College plays at Wake Forest on Sunday at 11 a.m.
