No. 34 Women's Tennis Defeats Pittsburgh, 6-1

DEDHAM, Mass. - The No. 34 Boston College women’s tennis team (10-5, 2-5 ACC) picked up an ACC victory against Pittsburgh, 6-1, on Friday night in Dedham, Mass.

The Eagles took the doubles point after the teams of Vasilyev and Borr and Wacnik and Sweeting sealed wins on courts two and three.

In singles, Jessica Wacnik defeated 86th-ranked Audrey Ann Blakely on court one, 6-1, 1-6, 6-3. Katya Vasilyev won on court two against Pittsburgh’s Taylor Washington, 7-6, 1-6, 7-5.

On court three Lexi Borr defeated Lolade Olgungbesean, 6-4, 7-6(5).

The Panthers managed to steal a point on court four after Pittsburgh’s Kimmy Borza beat Jennifer Ren in a hard fought match, 6-3, 5-7, 2-1.

Emily Safron and Heini Salonen won their matches on courts five and six to close out the day for the Eagles.

Boston College continues ACC play on Sunday at Syracuse. The match is set to begin at 10 a.m.
