No. 72 Women's Tennis Falls to No. 32 Virginia, 6-1

Freshman Heini Salonen won her singles match, but No. 72 Boston College fell to No. 32 Virginia, 6-1, on the Boyd Tinsley Courts at the Boar's Head Sports Club in Charlottesville, Va. on Friday afternoon.

The Eagles (7-3, 1-2 ACC) won a doubles match but lost the doubles point, and the Cavaliers (7-6, 2-0 ACC) won five of six singles matches.

Salonen defeated Li Xi, 6-1, 6-4, on court No. 4 for BC's lone singles victory.

Senior Alex Kelleher partnered with sophomore Jessica Wacnik to down Stephanie Nauta and Erin Vierra, 8-5, on court No. 1 in doubles. The duo improved to 9-1 on the year as a doubles team.

Boston College returns to play at Georgia Tech on March 30 at 11 a.m.
