No. 45 Women's Tennis Falls to No. 41 Long Beach State, 5-2

Sophomore Jessica Wacnik and senior Alex Kelleher each won singles matches, but No. 45 Boston College lost to No. 41 Long Beach State, 5-2, at the Rhodes Tennis Center in Long Beach, Calif., on Friday.

The Eagles (6-1, 1-0 ACC) won two singles matches and fell in three sets in three others in their first loss of the season against the 49ers (10-3, 4-1 Big West)

Wacnik beat Ebba Unden, 6-3, 6-7 (5-7), 6-3, on court No. 1 while Kelleher topped Klaudia Malenovska, 6-4, 6-1, on court No. 2.

Senior Kelly Barry and freshmen Heini Salonen and Wan-Yi Sweeting each lost singles matches in three sets on court Nos. 3, 5, and 6 respetively.

Next, Boston College hosts Massachusetts on March 15 at 5 p.m. at the Dedham Health & Athletic Complex.
