No. 56 Boston College Defeats Florida International University, 5-2

MIAMI, Fla. - The No. 56 Boston College women's tennis team (8-4, 0-2 ACC) defeated Florida International University on Tuesday afternoon at the FIU Tennis Courts.

The Eagles came out strong and stole the doubles point as Jessica Wacnik and Lexi Borr won at the No. 1 spot and Katya Vasilyev and Wan-Yi Sweeting won on the court two.

FIU stole its only two points of the match on court one and five in singles play. Carlotta Orlando defeated Wacnik, 7-6(2), 6-2 at the No. 1 and Giulietta Boha beat Sweeting, 6-1, 2-6, retired.

Vasilyev was victorious in singles on court two as she defeated Aleksandra Trifunvic, 6-4, 7-5.

Borr, Safron, and Salonen all picked up their singles wins to give BC the 5-2 victory.  

The Eagles are back in ACC action against Georgia Tech on Friday, March 14 in Dedham, Mass. The match is set to begin at 5 p.m.
