Swimming Sweeps Colgate

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Boston College men's and women's swimming and diving teams swept a dual meet against the Colgate Raiders, Saturday, Oct. 20.
The men's team sported a 160.5-119.5 win, and now owns a 2-0 overall record. A ten-point victory by the women's team, 152-142, keeps a perfect record intact at 3-0.
Freshman John Maloy earned Outstanding Performer for the men's team by winning three events, totaling 27 points for the Eagles. Maloy won the 1,000 free (9:55.86), 500 free (4:48.73) and 400 medley (4:12.55).
Senior Alex Zucco produced a strong performance in the diving events, winning both the 1-meter and 3-meter competitions. Zucco, who totaled 18 points, scored a 22.66 in the 1-meter and a 124.28 in the 3-meter.
Other winners on the men's side included: Andrew Brown (100 backstroke), Robert Swaninger (100 breaststroke) and Bromann (200 backstroke). The 200 medley relay team, consisting of Brown, Swaninger, Tommy Chandler and Alex Spaeth also earned a victory in a time of 1:38.64.
On the women's side, junior Caroline Byron won three events (200 free, 100 free and 50 free) totaling 27 points, which earned her Outstanding Performer of the meet.
Senior Bradie Dwyer and freshman Devon Kelly each finished first and second in the 1-meter and 3-meter diving competitions. Dwyer placed first in the 1-meter (228.83), while Kelly earned first place in the 3-meter (226.95).
Sophomore Caryn Switaj earned the Outstanding Performance honor by winning the 100 fly in 1:00.48.
