Men Tie for First, Women Place Second at Orange Bowl Classic

KEY LARGO, Fla. - The men's swimming team tied for first place with George Mason, and the women's team placed second at the Orange Bowl Classic on Sunday, Jan. 6.

On the men's side, John Maloy captured first place in the 200 medley (2:12.45) and 400 freestyle (4:14.88). Maloy along with Brett Bromann, Robert Swaninger and Alex Spaeth finished first in the 200 medley relay (1:51.98).

Spaeth earned top honors in the 50 free in a time of 24.68. The 200 freestyle relay team finished with a top time of 1:39.73. The relay team consisted of Swaninger, Spaeth, Schwitter and Dominick Boccio.

On the women's side, Caroline Byron placed first in the 50 freestyle in a time of 28.48. Amy Bromann finished second in the 50 backstroke (33.27) and the 100 backstroke (1:10.72).

MacKenzie Campbell and Caryn Switaj also placed second in the 50 freestyle (28.96) and 100 butterfly (1:10.37) respectively.
