W. Swimming Drops Meet to Williams

CHESTNUT HILL, MA--Boston College Men’s Swimming picked up there sixth win of the season with a dominant performance against the Ephs of Williams College. The final score to the meet saw the Eagles collect a total of 182 points to William’s 112. Once again, the men’s team received a dominant performance from Sophomore Dan Kelly, who was nominated last week for Eagle of the Week.
Kelly put together an even more impressive performance this week. He won all four races in which he swam. Also, Kelly shattered five records that were held at the William J. Flynn Sports Complex, BC’s home pool. In the 50 free, Kelly posted a 20.17, surpassing the previous record of 20.26 set by Scott Baker of Florida State in 2007. During his leg of the 400 freestyle relay, Kelly set the 100 yard record with a time of 45.23. The record had previously been held by BC’s John Webber, a mark that had held for nineteen years.
BC Women’s Swimming fell to Williams, 208-92. The women received victories in two events. Sophomore Maureen Barron posted an impressive time of 24.12 in the 50 yard Freestyle, beating the runner-up by nearly half a second. BC also took first in the 100 yard butterfly. Sophomore Jordan Parry edged out Williams Alyssa Levine to take the top spot with a time of 58.65.
Boston College Swimming takes a well-deserved month long break before they hit the water again. The next scheduled meet for both teams is scheduled for 1/18 against the Marist Red Foxes in Poughkeepsie, NY.
