W. Swimming Competes at Fordham

Bronx, NY - Both the men's and women's swimming and diving teams competed at Fordham this past weekend. The men's team swept the event defeating Fordham 151-137 and Williams 154-149. The BC women fell to both teams, being outscored by Fordham 223-75 and Williams 225-75.
Senior diver Marty Long was named Outstanding Performer of the meet for the men's team, finishing first in the three meter dive (282.65) and the one meter dive (276.45).
Senior Connor Stickney, sophomores Andrew Stranick and Tim Benage, and freshman Dan Kelly had one of the Outstanding Performances of the meet for their first place finish in the 200 yard medley relay with a time of 1:35.69. Sophomore Nick Henze, senior Edward Timmerman, Kelly and Stickney had the other for their first place finish in the 400 freestyle relay (3:07.55).
Senior Alyssa Niebrugge, sophomore Melissa Merwin, and freshman Katherine Vanasse were named the Outstanding Performers of the meet for the women's team. Niebrugge took seventh in the 100 yard backstroke (1:10.70), Merwin finished fourth in the 100 yard breaststroke (1:09.34) and Vanassse had a sixth place finish in the 50 yard freestyle (25.36).
The Eagles will be back in action January 11 at home against Brandeis University.
