W. Swimming Squeezes Out Win over Maine

Chestnut Hill, MA.- Boston College Swimming took on the University of Maine this past weekend and both teams came out with a victory.
Men’s Swimming defeated the Black Bears 196-102. Outstanding Eagles of the Meet were Senior Sean Murphy and Freshman Cole Maltesta. Murphy took home first place in both the 100 yard Breaststroke and the 100 yard Butterfly. Maltesta also dominated his events. He came in first in both the 1 and 3 meter dives. The Outstanding Performance of the Meet for the men went to Junior Nick Henze. Henze took first in the 100 yard Freestyle with a time of 47.04, beating out fellow Eagle Drew Cuttic by more than two seconds.
Boston College Women’s Swimming pulled out a close one this weekend. They defeated Maine by a score of 153-147. The Outstanding Eagle of the Meet went to Lizzie Manning. Manning took first place in two events, the 200 and 500 yard Freestyle event. In the 500 yard, Manning crushed the competition, winning by a margin of close to four seconds. The Outstanding Performance of the Meet goes to Junior Emily Downs, Sophomore Maureen Barron, and Freshmen Grace Kunkel and Maddie Maillard. This group took won the 200 yard Freestyle Relay and set a seasonal best time of 1:38.86.
Both teams head to Ithaca, NY this weekend to take on the Cornell Big Red.
