Swimming Sweeps Providence

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Boston College swimming and diving program picked up two wins at Providence on Saturday, Feb. 4. The BC men defeated the Friars, 205.5-74.5, while the BC women beat PC by a score of 155-125.

The men of BC collected 12 first-place finishes on their way to victory. Nick Henze and Connor Stickney led the Eagles with two individual wins apiece. Henze took first in the 200-Meter Freestyle (1:59.04) and the 400-Meter Freestyle (4:15.00), while Stickney earned the top spot in the 100-Meter Backstroke (59.85) and the 100-Meter Free (53.22). Other individual winners for BC included: James Boretti (200 Breaststroke, 2:27.70); Tim Corrigan (100 Butterfly, 58.42); Sean Murphy (100 Breaststroke, 1:06.89); Taylor Patch (800 Free, 8:52.40); Nicholas Sung (200 Butterfly, 2:11.00) and Collin Thilo (50 Free, 24.80).

On the women's side, Boston College picked up nine first-place finishes. Stephanie Ng led the Eagles with two individual victories, as she won both the 100-Meter Backstroke (1:08.56) and the 200-Meter Individual Medley (2:29.18). Kathryn Raplee and Kimberly Rich won the longest events of the day, as Raplee took the 800-Meter Freestyle (9:30.22) and Rich won the 400-Meter Free (4:37.60). Other individual winners for BC included: Katherine Chin (100 Butterfly, 1:08.25); Melissa Merwin (200 Breaststroke, 2:47.49); Mikki Morr (100 Breaststroke, 1:17.69) and Kathleen Murray (200 Butterfly, 2:32.38).
