WHITE RIVER JUNCTION, Vermont - The men's swimming and diving team finished fourth out of 6 teams with a team score of 512.50 at the Dartmouth invitational, while the women's team finished fifth out of 7 teams with their score of 246. Both teams defeated Maine and Connecticut, while Dartmouth won the meet on both sides.
The men were led by sophomore Andrew Stranick, senior Marty Long and senior James Boretti. Stranick took fourth in both the 100 and 200 yard breaststroke, Long finished fourth in both diving events, and Boretti placed fifth in the 200 yard IM and second in the 400 yard IM.
Freshman Dan Kelly and sophomore Nick Henze also had strong showings, as Kelly took third in the 50 yard freestyle (21.32) and Henze finished third in the 200 yard freestyle (1:43.59).
The women's team received strong performances from sophomore Melissa Merwin in the 100 yard breaststroke, sophomore Alexandria Manning in the 100 yard backstroke, senior Caitlin Molloy in the 1650 yard freestyle, and freshman Samantha Couillard in the 200 yard breaststroke.
The Eagles return to action February 1 at home against Providence College.
